Hrmm : /

I appreciate that it isn't Super Saiyan Sonic VS Cast of Naruto, but I still don't dig on unlicensed sprite usage. Still, that's not why I'm writing a review. The bit that got under my skin was that this is being hailed as clever and creative, whereas it's lifted - practically verbatim - from the surface story of Braid, a *truly* clever game in every respect. Not sure if this note will be met with "Nuh uh", or "Never heard of it", but it feels a bit too impeccable for me to be convinced otherwise. At the very least, your taste is in the right place.

Emptygoddess responds:

I've heard of it. Played it. Good game.

Very promising

Animating very closely to the song's lyrics is actually a huge pet peeve of mine, but you still managed to keep things pretty interesting. I'm sure The Avalanches' screwed up, scratchy, sample-heavy style lent well to that. The subject matter was part topical, part-offbeat, without being 'rofl random purple monkey cheese', the way a lot of people would have ruined it.

Your animation has some sure room for improvement, but you're right on track for your age. You'll be a strong animator in due time. For now, you have what matters most during this creative development process - ideas. So all in all, while I wasn't blown away this time, it kept my interest and hinted at some real potential for you in the future. I'll try to keep a watch out for your stuff.

NickJS responds:

Yeah well, Newgrounds Rumble was allriiiiight, I supooooooose.

No but seriously, thank you, you are my hero. I will try harder. I WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN.

Oh shit

I've seen this icon on the front page for a while and passed it by because I didn't know it was a Sherb joint. I just happened by it cos I wanted to put something on while I peeled an orange :P Fortunate for me because this piece came out great. Shame you have to deal with all the twits asking if it was necessary that you pursue your own creative vision at the cost of their virgin eyes. That's why ya gotta animate first for yourself, then for the crowd. I hope you think the same way because 3.91 does this sub no justice. 'Specially when so many halfassed video game flashes get top 50. Ah well. What can I say? Keep doin' what you're doin'. I look forward to whatever's next.

Sherbalex responds:

thanks mon ami. virgin eyes indeed! but its all good cya around

It takes a lot to override my bias against 3-D

But you've done it, Marco ;) As I've said throughout beta viewing, this is indeed one of the best of its kind, if not the definitive best 3-D graphics Flash on Newgrounds. Much attention to detail (few will notice things like the rain on the roof :P). And Ice Wolf did great with the voices, as per usual. All the work will hopefully pay off for you.

Evil-Dog responds:

thanks man! I appreciate your feedbacks and your work too, one of the few dedicated people I know

Great!

Well, you already know I think everyone's contributions were smooth and fun. Sorry I wasn't able to make that preloader pong in time. It was just such short notice on an already busy weekend. The submission is solid all the same. Looking forward to future installments :D

TOXIC-BOMB responds:

Hey, thanks man! I was hoping you would be able to contribute, but I know your a busy guy. Thanks for concidering though :) Who knows, you could be in an upcoming episode! GO NEGATIVE!!!! <3 x9999999999999999

Glad I looked into it.

After seeing yet another '++' marked submission take a top spot, I decided to finally check out these works. Went through each one, and I'm predominantly impressed. While I don't like the anime backbone of the style, it has some elements that give it a more unique edge. Some of stuff (Worlds++) even reminds me of the style I work on when I'm playing with animation. Full paintbrush, full frame by frame, and pretty wacky, hectic and surreal. I don't know if you read reviews on old subs, but if you do, I've got a question. Which sort of days are you referring to in the title of this submission, if you wouldn't mind saying? I have a guess or two, based on my own experience, but it could be a lot of things. Before I ramble any further, I'll wrap up. Nice animations, and I'll be keeping an eye out for more in the future.

O-Ovinnie responds:

those days where youre on yer bed and dont wanna get up, even if everybody is doing something, its not depression nor sleep, its just laying there (8

thanks

Good to see you back

If my memory serves me well, you haven't submitted in a while. It's good to see you active on NG, keeping with the same high quality of sound, graphics and writing the series has always held. I stopped by your site the other day, but it seemed you had to pay to see most of the content?

jato responds:

yeah, to get to old stuff on my site you have to pay 85 cents.

and i do apologize about that.

i actually hate it. but servers aren't free and people steal my stuff all the time. but they just point directly to the file on my server.

i got a bill for over $1,000 in bandwidth overages for ONE month!

so i put it behind a pay-to-view-old-stuff system after that.

the worst offenders? japan and russia. those guys would steal my stuff and bandwidth all the time.

ironically, i'm really flattered, though, that japanese and russians are even watching this stuff. or doing whatever they are doing to get it in front of more viewers...

Decent, overall

The graphics were at least par, though it would be good to see less reliance on tweening and more on frame-by-frame. My real quip is that a more obvious nod to num 1000 512 KB Cache Mix should have been made, as the choice in music and a lot of creative elements were clearly borrowed.

GagaMan responds:

I didn't intenally borrow anything from that animation bar the music, which I hunted down on the artist's website.

Haha, good stuff

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a great movie, and this was another very good addition to the series. You've definitely stepped up the graphics on this one. Plenty of nice looking frame by frame work. It's good to see an enitre head moving when someone talks rather than just their mouth. Fairly original storyline, and the characters work well and everything. Looking forward to the continuation of this series and your 'big plans' for it, as you've mentioned.

BaconMask responds:

I thank you for the thoughtful review. I definately agree it looks better when the entire head is animated rather than just the mouth. To me, that's cheating!

As for the big plans... let's just say after episode 5 (which is already written!) I will need to recruit some programmers for episode 6...

Sherby sherby sherby

The frame by frame work was ace. Very clean and fluid, as always. I don't see you as much on synjnet anymore, so it's great to see some of your work coming into the portal. Any progress on that Satan animation? :D

Sherbalex responds:

Shit man that Satan bit is dead as disco.

Yeah, we're all gonna get a lot of things done tomorrow.
